Schools and Public Facilities

Back in the day, besides home, school and the library were the next safest places to be. The only thing that kids had to worry about was doing their homework, what to bring for lunch, studying for tests, and recess or PE. Today, times have changed and neither of these kid spaces are the safe havens they used to be.

Records show that, Dec. 15, 2012, when Adam Lanza opened fire at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut, schools in the United States have seen almost one school shooting a week as well as innumerable physical and sexual assaults.

Whether it’s fights, bullying by fellow students, on campus sexual assaults, parents and students physically or verbally assaulting school personnel, there are many high and low level security threats happening on campuses and in libraries throughout the nation. Keeping our children safe in “kid spaces” has become, and will continue to be, our national obsession.

From armed to unarmed guards to foot and car patrols, American Services and Protection can provide security on a variety of levels to the public and private elementary, middle and high schools and libraries, and all the way up to the college level. Our experienced and caring staff are ready to help you create a realistic Campus Security Plan that provides your students, faculty, and visitors with a safe and secure environment that will fit within the, oftentimes, tight budget constraints that educational institutions might face.

The privatization of management and security of entire parks and other publicly owned spaces under concession agreements is relatively new but growing rapidly. As state and local governments come under increasing budget pressures, private management and security of public parks can be a useful tool for public authorities trying to keep parks open for the public.
